Seeing 1 (pg. 91)
From reading "A Matter of Scale", K.C. Cole finds the idea of an "invitation to a world where everything measures much bigger or smaller than ourselves", to be "magically seductive". I think what intrigues, her the most is the the fact that there are entities and organisms that can be so small but capable of actions that require massive strength for their size; and that we do not think about it because we normally only perceive things that pertain to what is applicable to our size/what we can see at a short distance. For example, something as small as a flea being able to lift 160,00 times it's own weight, and jump 100 times it's own height, is something that can change our perception of our own capabilities if we actually attempted to grasp the complexity of the tiny universe they live in. Facts such as this and other facts Cole stated in the reading change the way i think because now I am viewing the world and the universe and it's size differently because I am finding it all to be much larger than I perceive it to be.
